May 2016 report

As always we have had a busy few months, but are delighted to have yet another new member join us. We are delighted to welcome Anna, and the March meeting was nearly a full house! Our guest speaker was Mrs Jane Bayliss, who gave us a very interesting talk in all things Japanese. She brought along a vast array of kimonos which we were told when bought new would cost between £15000 and £50000.

Also in March a group of us met in the Community Greenhouse and planted the 105 saplings that we had been awarded from the Woodland Trust. Many thanks to Mr Dave Baster who helped us with the planting.

April we welcomed Mrs Judy Roach to our meeting who gave us a talk on her business Phoenix Stationery, with many of us buying the lovely products. Many thanks to Judy for stepping in at the last minute.

May brings the Resolutions again which we have to vote on. This year the two are:
Avoid food waste and address food poverty
Appropriate care in hospitals for people with dementia

Myfanwy and Pam attended the Dewisland Group Meeting where the speaker was Mr. Mark Burton, Assistant Marine Conservation Officer for Skomer Marine Nature Reserve. Pam and Kathryn attended an afternoon at Crundale Hall where they met the Pembrokeshire WI Officials. Also some members will attend the Spring Council Meeting at Nant y Ffin on Friday 6th May where the guest speaker will be Canon Dorrien Davies, who will do a floral art demonstration.

Plans are well in hand for the Afternoon Mystery Trip on 9th June, and we will hold a cake stall at the village fete on 11th June.
New members are always welcome.
